And how can we go on living a meaningful life in the midst of life’s changes?

These are questions that have followed me throughout my working life as a psychologist.

I am an authorised clinical psychologist and a specialist in health psychology. I work at Det Nationale Sorgcenter (the National Centre for Grief), where I meet children, young people, adults, and families living with serious illness, grief, and loss. I have previously worked with patients and their relatives at Aarhus University Hospital and Privathospitalet Mølholm.

Privacy Policy

This privacy policy describes how this website handles personal data.

Data controller

Karen Margrethe S. When the body changes, the impact often reaches far beyond the physical. It can challenge everyday life, relationships, identity, and one’s picture of the future.

As a specialist in health psychology, I work with patients and their relatives living with, among other things, chronic illness, chronic pain, serious illness, and the life changes that can follow. My work is grounded in an evidence-based approach, drawing especially on ACT, existential psychology, and mindfulness-based methods.

Illness, Grief and Crisis

Serious illness, the loss of function, a life-threatening course of treatment, or a death can change life in an instant. The familiar becomes uncertain, and many people find that their everyday life, their relationships, and their understanding of themselves all change.

I work with people who are in the middle of these life changes. Drawing on health psychology, ACT, and existential psychology, I support patients and their relatives in finding their footing when life no longer looks the way it did before.

Literature Therapy

When we experience illness, grief, or other crises in life, it can be hard to find words for what we are going through. At the same time, we know that language shapes how we understand our experiences, ourselves, and the situation we are in.

Literature therapy rests on the idea that reading, writing, metaphor, and story can be valuable tools in the therapeutic process. They can help create clarity, add nuance to experience, and open new perspectives - not by removing what is difficult, but by making it possible to examine and relate to it in new ways.
